They howl in a thousand different voices, they eat everything we love & they listen only to their nose. Even though they’re manipulative little monsters, let’s be honest – we do love them.
It’s not a coincidence that the first breed specific collection I’ve sketched happens to be on beagles.
Meet the reason named Bob:
Correct, I’m owned by a beagle myself. But it’s alright, I already accepted one’s fate & after a while – it’s amazing.
Without further ado, I’d like to welcome you to my beagle coloring pages collection, inspired by nearly five years of experience as the owner of this wonderful breed. Below you’ll find various beagle sketches in different scenarios.
Enjoy!

Beagle Coloring Page

Beagles often have a black “saddle,” tan (brown) areas on the face, ears, and legs, and crisp white on the chest, tail tip, and paws. Block in these three zones lightly first, then refine edges and blend where tan meets black for a natural transition.
Build Fur Depth with Layered Pencil Strokes
Use short, hair-like strokes following the direction of growth (down the ears, along the muzzle, around the chest). Layer light tan → golden ochre → warm brown. For the black saddle, start with cool gray layers before adding black to keep the coat dimensional.
Keep Whites Clean & Bright
Reserve paper white for the muzzle, blaze, chest, paws, and tail tip. If needed, mask tiny highlights with washi tape or use a white gel pen at the end for whisker dots and fur shines.
Make Ears Look Velvety
Beagle ears are soft and slightly glossy. Shade from the ear base outward with gradual gradients. Burnish lightly at the fold to suggest a smooth sheen without losing texture.
Add Lifelike Eyes & Nose Highlights
Shade eyes with warm browns and a touch of gray; leave a crisp catchlight to make them “alive.” For the nose, layer dark gray → black and place a small white highlight on the top curve to suggest moisture.
Use Warm vs. Cool Shadows
Under the chest, belly, and between legs, add cool gray or violet-gray shadows. On sunlit outdoor scenes, add warmer shadows (brown-gray) beneath the ears, collar, and tail to ground the dog.
Blend Smart: Pencils, Markers, or Pastels
With alcohol markers, lay mid-tones first, then deepen edges and pull color back into the mid-tone for seamless blends. With colored pencils, use a colorless blender or gentle burnishing. Chalk pastels are great for soft backgrounds (sky/grass) — fix lightly with workable fixative.
Freckles, Fur Edges & Whiskers
Many beagles have speckles on their legs and muzzle. Tap the tip of a sharpened pencil for subtle freckles. Break the outline with tiny outward strokes where fur meets the background to avoid “sticker” edges.
Backgrounds that Tell a Story
Place your beagle in a park, show ring, beach day, rainy walk, or birthday party. Soft gradients (sky to grass), paw-print trails, or a sniffing path make the page feel complete without crowding the pup.
Paper & Smudge Control
Use heavier paper (160–200 gsm) for markers and place a scrap sheet underneath to prevent bleed-through. For pencils, work light-to-dark and keep a tissue under your hand to avoid smudges.
